Duties and Responsibilities:

3.1       Abides by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Code of Medical Ethics, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff and those specific to the department/division.

3.2       Provides the highest attainable standard of medical care for the patients for whom he/she is responsible.

3.3       Carries out full range of in-patient and out-patient clinical duties as assigned by the Director of Surgery in accordance with   individually approved clinical privileges.

3.4       Participates in the on-call duties as required by the department.

3.5       Teaches staff assigned for training purposes, and participates with the Chief of the Department and the Consultant in planning a programme of career development for trainees, as applicable.

3.6       Participates in the improvement of quality of patient care (Quality Management and Patient Safety) as applicable.

3.7       Fulfils the requirements of the Saudi Council for Health Specialties with regard to continuing medical education.

3.8       Deputizes for the Consultant as required and shares workload in his specialty during the absence of his colleagues.

3.9       Strives to improve his clinical expertise as well as standard of practice with regard to morbidity and cost effectiveness.

3.10     Participates in the Major Disaster Plan of the hospital, as indicated.

3.11     Participates in relevant teams and committees of the hospital as assigned by the senior management.

3.2       Commitment to learning and training in pursuance of a career in his chosen specialty.

3.3       Ability to deal calmly, with tact and diplomacy to patient and staff alike.
